Lancer Wins National Award for Beer Cooling System

Lancer Corporation is pleased to announce that REL Cooling in Ireland, who utilizes Lancer’s Glycol Beer Cooling and Heat Recovery System, has been named Refrigeration Product of the Year by the UK’s RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2013.

The award was presented at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards 2013 on September 25 at the London Hilton. The event included more than 700 refrigeration and cooling professionals from more than 100 companies vying for honors in 16 categories.

This achievement is an international acknowledgement of REL Cooling and Lancer’s continued success in developing cutting-edge, state-of-the-art beverage cooling and dispensing equipment.

How it works - The system uses a central bath of glycol (antifreeze) to cool all refrigeration within a bar. The bath is chilled to approximately -4°C (25°F) and with the use of a glycol specific, high-flow pump, the glycol / water solution is distributed to beer taps, beer cold rooms (walk-in coolers), remote bottle coolers and food cold rooms, similar to the process of a household heating system. This system can deliver up to 50 percent savings on electricity bills; plus it provides free hot water by transferring the heat from the glycol compressor directly into the bar’s hot water system.

The Cooling Industry Awards were launched by RAC magazine in 2004 to provide a national focus to recognize, reward and celebrate the achievements of those pushing the boundaries of environmentally focused refrigeration and air conditioning. The awards bring together the whole industry, including end-users, clients, manufacturers, designers, distributors, consultants, contractors and service companies, to celebrate the best advances being made.

Lancer is proud that their hard work and commitment to innovation continues to be recognized nationally and internationally within both the industry and by thousands of satisfied customers worldwide.

David Ewing Earns Lean Bronze Certification

Woot woot! Congratulations to Lancer employee David Ewing on achieving bronze-level SME Lean Certification! David is the second employee in the company to achieve this status, and we are happy to have him on the team.

A Lean Bronze Certification demonstrates a solid understanding of basic lean principles and tools, as well as the ability for tactical implementation that drives improvement and shows measurable results. Lean training focuses on identifying work that doesn’t add value and finding a solution to eliminate this waste. This is a process, not just a quick fix to a problem. Once one issue is resolved, it is time to begin looking for another. The certification is made possible with the collaboration of SME, AME, and The Shingo Prize. The practices and high standards established by the Lean Certification Program are used across the globe.

Cheers to David in his Lean quest in helping Lancer to fulfill their vision of “Dispensing Solutions that Pour More.”

ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation

Lancer Corporation is very pleased to announce that we have received the final accreditation for our Engineering Laboratory from the Laboratory Accreditation Bureau based on ISO/IEC 17025 standards. This prestigious achievement of accreditation validates, by a third party, that Lancer’s laboratory is operating at a very high standard.

What is ISO/IEC 17025? It is the single most important standard for calibration and/or testing laboratories around the world. Laboratories that are accredited to this international standard have demonstrated that they are technically competent and able to produce precise and accurate test and/or calibration data.

What is Accreditation? Accreditation is a voluntary, third party-reviewed process. As part of accreditation, a laboratory's quality management system is thoroughly evaluated on a regular basis to ensure continued technical competence and compliance with ISO 17025. Laboratory accreditation can only be granted by an accreditation body, or AB.

By developing a quality assurance system for the Engineering Laboratory based on the highest standards as outlined by ISO/IEC 17025, we are assured consistent, high-quality performance. Achieving accreditation is the formal step in demonstrating that our standards of operation are right on target.
